100 Steps

We will report on the “sites” of municipal transportation, such as bus and subway driving, stations, and vehicle maintenance, from the staff's point of view. One step we've been going on for 100 years. And a lot of small steps to shape the future. We will tell you about these steps as "100 Steps".

The “100 Steps” that communicates the initiatives of Yokohama Municipal Transportation and the thoughts we put in.
This time, we will report from the Building Division, which is working on the renovation and improvement of the station, aiming for a comfortable station space, so that customers can use the subway more comfortably.


Yokohama Municipal Subway opened its 50th anniversary on December 16, last year.
More than 50 years have passed, and blue line facilities and equipment are aging, so we are updating and concourses and toilets to make them a safe and comfortable space.

Last October. Isezaki-Chojamachi Station restroom has been reopened.
Before the renovation, Isezaki-Chojamachi Station was dim, but after the renovation, it was bright and no odor was removed, making it easier to use.
One of the concepts of improvement is "barrier-free".
Rather than creating a multi-functional toilet with concentrated functions, we worked to disperse functions by setting up a wheelchair user priority toilet, a booth with ostomate equipment for men and women, and a large booth where strollers can be brought in.
In addition, the steps have been eliminated, making it easier for more people to use.

The site supervisor was also in charge of female mechanical workers.
It has been renovated so that you can feel "brightness" and "convenience" as well as hygiene such as "smell" and "cleanness".
In addition, we have devised ways to make it easier for customers to use, such as adjusting the hardness when opening and closing baby chairs.

"The image of the toilet at the station may not be very good, but since it is a place where many people use it, I hope that everyone can use it comfortably and comfortably.
