The flower of the ward is "Kikuku"
"Kiku" trivia
A generic term for the family Asteraceae. The flowering season is from September to November, but there are many types and can be seen all year round.
Chrysanthemum folded while exposed to the long time of autumn (Kokin Wakashu Tomonori Kino)
As sung in Waka, Kiku has been popular as a symbol of longevity since ancient times, and is a representative flower of autumn in Japan.
In the ward, you can see that yomena and Nokongiku, which are kind of nogiku, grow naturally beside the fields. In addition, the cultivation of ornamental chrysanthemums is also thriving, and every November, the Chrysanthemum exhibition is held grandly.
Decision on flower "Kiku" of ward Thank you for me-from public information Yokohama, Sakae Ward version of November, 1991―
In August, in commemoration of the 5th anniversary of the constituency system, Sakae Ward recruited flowers of the ward suitable for a "green lifestyle and culture city." There were more than 1,300 votes, and after holding an enactment committee meeting to review it, we decided to be “Kikuku”. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
As a symbol of heart contact and solidarity
In commemoration of the 5th anniversary of the constituency system, the flower establishment of the ward will promote the creation of a `` green living culture city '' which is the theme of Sakae Ward, and further deepen the contact and the inhabitants of the ward through the spread of flowers. Is what you want to get it. In establishing flower of ward, we established establishment committee in July and examined recruitment methods of flower. From August 1st to 31, we recruited flowers in the ward, and 1,323 votes and 99 kinds of flowers (see the table below for details) were sent as supplements.
Based on the results of this application, a committee meeting was held on September 6 and decided to be “kiku” with the approval of all the members. The reason for selection is that
- The number of applications is overwhelmingly large compared to other flowers, and according to the wishes of the applicant
- It is well-known and has many types, so it is popular with people of all ages.
Thank you very much.
In the future, Sakae Ward will strive to spread "Kiku" as a flower of the local area. We hope that inhabitants of a ward warmly look at "Kiku" as symbol of ward and spread.
