Basic information of Touche-kun
Touche-kun's background
Touche-kun is a mascot character of Itagawa, a symbol river that flows east and west through Sakae Ward. It is thought that the name of the Hitachi River has changed from the "Detachi River". This seems to be derived from the departure ceremony of the Kamakura era, where they ate in the Itagawa River and prayed for safety, saying, "Izada!"
In the distance vote of the Tachikawa Promenade, which was set up in March 2003, an illustration of Itachi was drawn after the name of the river to make the inhabitants more familiar. This weasechi character was cute and very popular among the residents of the city, so we decided to treat it as the "Sakae Ward Itachikawa Mascot".
Character names were recruited in October 2004, and in January 2005, the name was decided for "Touch-kun", which had the most applications. The name of "Touch-kun" means "touch" in English means touching the nature of the river and Sakae Ward.
Today, it jumps out of the river and is active in the Sakae Ward, and is widely popular among residents of the city, from children to the elderly.
