Last Updated March 25, 2021

Process

Hanno City and Naka-ku, Yokohama City started the direct operation of five railway companies (Seibu Railway, Tobu Railway, Tokyo Metro, Tokyu Corporation, Yokohama High Speed Rail) in March 2013. It became a relationship with a station (Hanno Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, Motomachi-Chukagai Station on the Yokohama High Speed Rail Minatomirai Line Motomachi-Chukagai Station). With this as an opportunity, we have been interacting between governments and residents through active participation in mutual events.
In March 2014, on the occasion of the first anniversary of mutual direct operation, we will utilize mutual characteristics and local resources to further exchange at the citizen level and the administrative level, and connect to a safe and rich community. Aiming at, we have concluded a friendship exchange agreement.

Iruma River, where you can enjoy the clear stream and green scenery.

Hanno City is located in the southwestern part of Saitama Prefecture, Sayama City and Iruma City to the east, Ome City and Okutama Town in Tokyo, Chichibu City and Yokoze Town in the west, Tokigawa Town, Ogose Town, Moroyama Town, We are in contact with Hidaka City.
The terrain is divided into mountains, hills, and plateaus. The northwestern part is a mountainous area, with forests occupy about 75% of the city area. The southeastern part is hills and plateaus, and urban areas are developing on the plateau between the Koryo hills in the north and the Kaji hills in the south. In addition, the first-class rivers of the Iruma River and the Komagawa River flow down from the western mountains to the eastern plateau. The climate is an inland climate on the Pacific Ocean side, but the temperature of the mountainous area changes drastically depending on the season, and the rainfall is one of the largest in Saitama Prefecture. In 1954, the ninth municipal organization in the prefecture was enforced, and in the old days it prospered as a town of forestry and textiles. Since the 1940s, residential land has progressed, and the location of high schools, universities, factories, etc. has also progressed, and it has changed as a suburban residential city in the Tokyo metropolitan area. In 2005, it merged with the former name Kurimura and became the third largest city in the prefecture. Located within about 50 km from the city center and has good access to traffic, Hanno City, blessed with greenery and clear streams, has long been rich in forests and people's lives and culture through coexistence with people. History and industry have been nurtured. Against this background, we declared "forest culture city" on April 1, 2005, and are working on town development aiming at a comfortable city where nature and urban functions are in harmony.
