Registration and rabies vaccination

Registration of domestic dog
If you have a dog, you must register your dog and inoculate the rabies vaccination under the Rabies Prevention Law.
Registration must be made within 30 days from the day you start keeping the dog (for puppies, the date the dog has passed 90 days old). (Registration application fee: 3,000 yen)
When you register, you will receive a dog dog's license tag (silver metal plate). Put it on your dog's collar.
Registration is valid for a lifetime for one dog.
(If you have already received a registered dog, you will need to change the owner.)

If you have a dog, you must receive the rabies vaccination once a year and receive a rabies vaccination vote. (Injection vote grant fee: 550 yen)
Upon notification, an injection vote (colored metal plate) will be issued. Put it on your dog's collar.

The rabies vaccination Voucher Application Form is sent every year for registered dogs around late March.
Yokohama City has set up a business trip site for dog registration (rabies vaccination) every April (*). Please refer to the Animal Protection Center page for the event schedule.
※The event will be held in April 2022 to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

Changes in registration items (change of dog location, registration items, etc.)
If you move with a dog, your owner has changed, or if the owner's name (name), you need to change it.

(Note 1) If the dog's license tag and the injected vote for the relevant year are lost, it will be reissued (charged).

If you lose your dog's license tag or rabies injection slip, you can reissue it.
(dog's license tag re-grant fee: 1,600 yen)
(Reissue fee for rabies vaccination vote: 340 yen)
The procedure for re-grant is Health Sanitation Division Naka Health and Welfare Center.
When the dog dies (deletion of registration)
If your dog dies, please notify Naka Health and Welfare Center Health Sanitation Division (Tel: 045-224-8339) that you have died. (No fee is charged.)
