About participation, withdrawal of National Health Insurance

What is National Health Insurance?

 There is a medical insurance system provided by the insurer for some or all of the medical expenses that occurred when consulting a medical institution.
There are employee health insurance, which can be purchased through the workplace, the Medical System for Elderly Seniors, for those aged 75 and over, and the National Health Insurance system for other people.
Other people are those who do not have any other health insurance schemes, such as self-employed, farmers, or retirees.
Except for those who are members of the employee health insurance, members of the Medical System for Elderly Seniors, and those who are receiving welfare, be sure to join the National Health Insurance of the municipality where they live.

Person who joins

 The medical insurance system includes the employee health insurance, which is enrolled through the workplace, the Medical System for Elderly Seniors, for those aged 75 and over, and the National Health Insurance for other people.
 It is stipulated by law that all persons except those who are enrolled in the employee health insurance at work, those who are enrolled in the medical system for the elderly, and those who are receiving welfare.

What is required for notification

If you fall under any of the following (1) to (3), you must notify the ward office National Health Insurance Section of your ward within 14 days after the applicable.

    ※Get a certificate of disqualification at the workplace where you stopped or when you issued your insurance card.

You cannot use your Yokohama National Health Insurance card after the day you join the employee health insurance of your workplace or National Health Insurance Association. If used, we may charge the medical expenses borne by Yokohama City.

After the day you move out of the city, you cannot use your Yokohama National Health Insurance card. If used, we may charge the medical expenses borne by Yokohama City.
