A place for learning
The types of places where children who need special assistance can learn are as follows:
General class
In general classes at Yokohama City School, we devise lesson methods and teaching materials to provide easy-to-understand classes.
Individual support classes (special support classes)
This is a small class for learning according to the condition of each child's disability.
In Yokohama City, there are individual support classes at all municipal elementary and junior high schools.
Classroom instruction class
This is a place where children with minor disabilities who are enrolled in a general class receive special guidance tailored to the disability.
Eligible children go to a school with a "school classroom instruction classroom" and receive guidance.
There are 22 schools in Yokohama that have "intermediate instruction classes".
Special Needs School
It is a place to learn to improve what you are having trouble with disabilities and to live independently and fulfilling life.
There are schools for each type of disability, such as intellectual disability and physical disability.

Necessary procedures
If you want to go to the "Individual Support Class", "Individual Support School", you need to apply for consultation at the Special Support Education Center.

If you want to go to the "Individual Support Class", "Individual Support School", please apply for consultation at the Special Needs Education Center.
※You can attach an interpreter at the time of consultation. Please write in the consultation application form which language interpreter is required.
New elementary school first grader (older child) or when it is decided to move to Yokohama City

After accepting the application form, the Special Support Education Center will contact the guardian and determine the consultation schedule.

If you have already attended Yokohama City Elementary and Junior High School
Tell the school you are attending that you would like to go to the Special Support Education Center and receive a consultation application form.
After filling out the consultation application form, submit it to the school you are attending.
Once the consultation schedule has been decided, we will send you a letter of notice through the school.
On the day of consultation
- Parents and children should come with me.
- Consultations are available from Monday to Friday. We cannot consult on Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and New Year's holidays.
- The consultation time will take about 2 hours.
- Interviews with counselors and inspect children's IQ tests.
