If a child is born or dies while a foreigner is living in Japan, you must notify the ward office. Documents at the time of notification will remain at the ward office for 10 years.

When a child is born in Japan
What we need to do
When a foreign child is born in Japan, you must do the following:
1. Within 14 days from the date of birth, you will receive a "birth registration form" (a document that informs you that your child was born).
2. Get a child's "status of residence" (qualification to live in Japan).
3. I will inform the government office of your country.

What you need
1."birth registration form" and "birth certificate"
If a child is born in a hospital, both can be obtained at the hospital.
2."Mother and Child Health Handbook" (small notebooks that you get when you have a baby)
3. My father and mother's passport
It is necessary only if you want to write your father and mother's country on the documents you receive from the ward office after issuing birth registration form.
Characters that can be used in a child's name
1.Katakana (please write romantic characters)
2.Kanji (a person in the country who writes their names in kanji)
When the family died
When a foreigner died in Japan
Within seven days from the date you know that you have died, your family members should submit a "death registration/death notification form" (a document that informs you that you died).
※Foreigners married to a Japanese person must change their status of residence (qualifications to be able to live in Japan) when their husband or wife dies. Please inform the Immigration and Immigration Bureau (Immigration).

・Write down the country of the deceased, Address, and where cremation is done.
・After issuing this document, we will issue a "fire burial permit" from the ward office to the place where you cremate.
