About "Seal Registration".

  • "Seal Registration" means bringing your private seal to the ward office and registering.
  • In order to buy land, buildings, cars, etc., private seal (Seal Registration) may be required.
  • When you register, you will get a card called "private seal Registration Card" from the ward office.

How to register (Toroku)

Register at the Family Registry Division of the ward office where you live in.

What you need

  • "Resident Card" or "Special Permanent Resident Certificate (Tokubetsu Eijushomeisho)"
  • private seal (inkan)

The length and width are entered into a square with the same length (8 mm or more, 25 mm or less) private seal (inkan)
private seal, which does not have a line around the name cannot be registered. Ask the ward office to see if you can register.

"Seal Registration Certificate".

"Seal Registration Certificate" is a document that private seal can prove that you belong to.
You can get it at the ward office or the "Government Service Corner" near the station (Eki).
In addition, it is possible to apply (Shinsei) by "Online (only for those who have a My Number Card)" (Kano).
