Garbage composition investigation

We will see the contents of garbage found at home

Last update date January 6, 2021

We carry out "garbage composition investigation" to check the garbage separation situation to go out of home and the situation of Yokohama 3R dream plan in Yokohama-shi.

The contents of burnable garbage

Ratio of recyclable garbage in burnable garbage greatly decreased after the separated collection item expansion, but "recycle paper" or "product made in plastic containers and packaging" targeted for classification are included a lot still more. As for "the recycle paper", "product made in plastic containers and packaging" occupies approximately 5% in approximately 10% of burnable garbage, and thorough further classification of these is necessary for investigation of 2019. In reference to "separation, how to put out garbage and resources", I would like cooperation to classification sequentially to push forward garbage separation, recycling.

Thing separated as recyclable garbage definitely was about 63%, and, among containers and packaging made of plastic, about 40% got mixed with burnable garbage. In addition, about 96%, about 97%, about 96% and most were right, and bottle, can, plastic bottles were separated each (figure 4).
In reference to "separation, how to put out garbage and resources", I would like cooperation to classification from now on. Particularly, I would like cooperation to right classification about containers and packaging made of plastic.

The contents of kitchen garbage included in burnable garbage

Among kitchen garbage included in burnable garbage, "leftover" and "food loss" of "the excessive removal" (thing which removed edible portion excessively when we removed non-edible part including peel of vegetables) occupied "untouched food" (food which is thrown away with being out of control) about half (figure 5).
By 3R dream plan promotion plan (2018-2021), we aim at reduction of food loss of 20% or more by the ratio in 2015 by 2021.
In addition, about quantity of food loss occurrence of 2019, please see "about quantity of food loss occurrence provided by family".
