Park facility outline
The predecessor of this park was built in 1939 as an air defense green space maintenance project in Showa 17 and 18 as an air defense green space maintenance project. Gokoku Shrine was destroyed by the air raid, but the remaining land was transferred to the city, and the land was secured together with the free loan of state-owned land and the acquisition of surrounding private land, etc., the land was secured and started to be maintained as a park. . A volleyball court was set up in the eastern district in 1949, and the park was opened to the public with the use as the 4th National Athletic Volleyball venue.
In 1951, the athletics stadium, which was maintained, was dropped by persimmons in the Japan-US Athletics Competition. Also, at the 10th Kanagawa National Athletic Meet held in 1955, this stadium was used as the main venue, and the renovation of the stadium, changing places, management building, rugby field, etc. were constructed.
At the 18th Olympic Tokyo Games in 1964, soccer was played at a newly-developed ballpark, and sports facilities were enriched one after another.
With the opening of the Soccer J-League in 1993, it was decided that two teams would be based in the ball field, and a large-scale redevelopment was made toward it.
Even today, it is used as a venue for the Soccer J-League and the National High School Soccer Championship, etc., and we are promoting improvements such as installing large video equipment, improving night lighting equipment, and extending the life of buildings every year. In addition, many cherry trees are planted in the park, and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom in spring, and the park is beautifully colored. In addition to sports facilities, there are outdoor activity centers, open spaces, playgrounds, children's playgrounds, etc., so you can enjoy strolling in deep greenery. The only facility in Yokohama is characterized by an equestrian practice area.
This park is managed by the designated manager.
