Effective use of sewage sludge

Last update date August 17, 2020

Sludge generated by sewage treatment is incinerated to reduce and stabilize.
The sludge incineration ash remaining after incineration is 100% effectively used as "improved soil" and "cement raw material".

Improved soil is soil obtained by mixing about 10% of incinerated ash with soil excavated during sewerage work, etc., and made it into high-quality backfill material.

Sludge incineration ash contains a lot of lime that makes soil good quality, and also has the effect of absorbing soil moisture in the soil. Focusing on the nature of this incinerated ash, an improved soil plant has been installed to produce improved soil.

The improved soil plant is carried out using the PFI method, a business method that utilizes the vitality of the private sector.

Raw materials for cement

Sewage sludge incineration ash uses sludge as an alternative to clay, because its components are similar to clay, the main raw material of cement manufacturing.

Cement is largely used in civil engineering and construction work, so a large amount of sludge incineration ash can be used effectively.
