Atmospheric environmental standard and guideline level (menu page)

This page is menu page about evaluation method (notice of Ministry of the Environment) and guideline level to judge how about that environmental standard (Ministry of the Environment notification) set for each air pollution material and one-year result of a measurement adapt to environmental standard (the central environmental council report).

Environmental standard

Environmental standard (Ministry of the Environment notification)

About environmental standard defined as "standard that it is desirable to be maintained in we protect a person's health and keeping living environment in good condition" in Environmental Basic Law Article 16, method for measurement is set for each individual air pollution materials during standard and number that it is, the achievement period by Ministry of the Environment notification.
Evaluation method of environmental standard is set by notice of Ministry of the Environment whether result of a measurement at a certain point adapts to environmental standard and evaluates environmental standard using all measurements that were measured a year.

Target pollutantThe environmental standard valueType of notification

Sulphur dioxide (SO2)

The daily means of one hour value are 0.04 ppm or less and win,
Values being 0.1 ppm or less for one hour.

Environmental standards such as sulphur dioxide

Suspended particulate matter (SPM)

The daily means of one hour value are 0.10 mg/㎥ or less and win,
Values being 0.20 mg/㎥ or less for one hour.

Environmental standards such as sulphur dioxide

Carbon monoxide (CO)

The daily means of one hour value are 10 ppm or less and win,
The means being 20 ppm or less for eight hours.

Microparticulate matter (PM2.5)

The one year means are 15µg/㎥ or less and win,
The daily means being 35µg/㎥ or less.

Guideline level

Guideline level of non-methane hydrocarbon concentration (council for central antipollution measure report)

The mean is in range of 0.31ppmC from 0.20ppmC for three hours of non-methane hydrocarbon of from 6:00 to 9:00 in the morning corresponding to value 0.06 ppm for a maximum of one hour on day of photochemical oxidant.

By the seventh report, guideline level is defined as "guideline to plan reduction of health risk with harm air pollution materials in environment as one of the environmental target value and number that it is".
Furthermore, it is said, "character and positioning are different from environmental standard that was set to plan reduction of health risk with harmful air pollution materials in environment, and is set based on Environmental Basic Law Article 16.".
