Yokohama City formulated the "Yokohama City Lifelong Learning Basic Design" in May 1988 and the "Second Yokohama City Lifelong Learning Basic Design" in November 1999, and promoted lifelong learning measures. However, the social situation surrounding the city and the role played by lifelong learning are also changing.
Therefore, we devise "the third Yokohama-shi lifelong learning basics design" based on having received opinion statement of basic design revision from the ninth Yokohama-shi lifelong learning promotion meeting in June, 2011.

Through lifelong learning, we will nurture the "power" where each and every citizen can live vigorously, and create a town "Yokohama" where various people connect, support each other and live together.

1 Fostering "Chikara"-Fostering "Chikara" where you can live lively ~
By continuing to learn throughout their lives (lifelong learning), we aim to nurture the "chikara" where each and every citizen can live lively in a society where changes are intensely and diversified.

2 Make use of "Chikara"-Utilize the "Chikara" obtained from learning and experience-
We aim to make use of the "chikara" acquired in lifelong learning for the community and society.

3 Connecting "Chikara"-Connecting "Chikara" to create a rich area-
By connecting each and every one of our strengths, we aim to create greater power andcommunity development.
