Search for JIS standard (revised 3rd edition)

Last Updated December 28, 2023

First of all,

JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) is the Nihon Sangyo standard that is established based on the Industrial Standardization Law. As of the end of March 2020, 10,858 standards have been established for technical content related to industrial products, etc.
The established JIS is issued as a printed booklet for each JIS case, "JIS Standard Form" in accordance with the prescribed format and format. In principle, it will be deliberated within five years, and will be confirmed, revised, or abolished by a resolution of the Nihon Sangyo Standard Investigation Committee.
Individual JIS standard numbers are written in the order of one letter of alphabet, classification number (hyphen, branch number), colon, and year of establishment or revision.

Regarding the current JIS standard, the standard form and handbook are placed on the 4th floor of the Chuo-toshokan on the 4th floor, the JIS standard shelf (the shelf number 51 on the natural science floor on the right side of the elevator).

The museum stores Japanese-style JIS standard slips in dodge files (JIS complete version) that have been classified, organized, and added and removed by category of standard numbers. We do not have English translations.

JIS Standard Form
Location: 4th floor, natural science department shelves No. 51 JIS corner

It consists of JIS total catalog, YEARBOOK (English Translation JIS total catalog), and handbooks for each field. The handbook by sector contains JISs related to each field, not by standard number, so it has a listability and is useful for purposes such as summary surveys. However, it is not published in all fields, and some explanations attached to the standard slip (explaining points that were problems at the time of deliberation, differences from the old version and international standards, etc.) Please note that there may be cases where only the revised part may be described as a supplement at the time of revision.

When examining the JIS standard number in the JIS standard number list

If you know the standard number, you can see the standard slip directly, but you want to see the standard of ○○○.…In such a case, you need to check the standard number.

You can search for the corresponding standard number by using the section / classification number list on the back of the JIS total catalog, or use the JIS standard name index (in alphabetical order) at the end of the book to search for the corresponding standard number. .

The JIS Catalog contains the abolished standard numbers and names. For standards that have been migrated to other standards, the standard number of the destination is listed after the name.
Chuo-toshokan has preserved abolished JIS standard forms since fiscal 2006. In addition, since the back issues of the JIS handbook are stored, you can view the JIS text of the year before and after the abolition. However, you cannot see those that are not listed in the handbook or commentary. For more information, please contact Chuo-toshokan.

IDT: identical (match) ⇒ International standards are adopted as a whole, except for the minimum edit differences.

MOD: Revised (correction) ⇒ Adoption of international standards, technical content with international standards and composition differences between the standards and the composition of the standards are to the minimum necessary, and technical differences are clearly identified and explained.
