In this section, we place international day and Human Rights Day, week, the moon in Japan and information such as on memorial day about human rights at any time.


21st : International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination


In 1992 (Heisei 4), federation of international guide dog school (federation of existing international guide dog, the headquarters U.K.) set last Wednesday of April with "day of international guide dog". About 30 countries, 84 guide dog upbringing groups join the league and hold event to deepen understanding to guide dog on this day and holiday after front of it.

 From 5 to 11 : Child welfare week
From 14 to 22 : Week to understand sexual minority

 1st : Day of Civil Rights Commissioner
22nd : Honorary recovery of victim with rai prophylaxis and memorial day
It was established for "law about payment of compensation money for people of leper house entrance" of the enforcement in 2001 (Heisei 13) on that day. Events for mourning, memorial service of victim and honorary recovery are carried out in each place. There are still 15 leper houses, and about 2,733 people (as of May 1, 2008) live in the whole country.

From 23 to 29 : Gender equality week


1st : The Ainu culture promotion method enforcement, day of rebirth protection
It takes effect on this day of 1997 (Heisei 9). Officially "law about promotion of Ainu culture and the spread of knowledge about traditions of Ainu and enlightenment." Previous "Hokkaido Aborigines Protection Act" was abolished by establishment of this law.

16th : Gender identity person with a disability exception method promulgation/enforcement
We were promulgated on this day of 2003 (Heisei 15), and it was enforced on the same day of 04 (Heisei 16). Gender identity person with a disability came to be able to change sex in family register after experiencing umpire of family court.

14th : "World plan for human rights education" resolution
On this day of 2005 (Heisei 17), it was devised as follow-up of (1,995-2,004 years) for "United Nations ten years for human rights education". Adoption of action plan revision plan that focused on elementary secondary school education is the center.

※Person with a disability employment support month

The national whole makes mood of the person with a disability employment as well as business owner widely and is intended that we support occupational independence of person with a disability.

8th : International literacy day

It was set for the purpose of reinforcement of activity to raise literacy rate that all people became able to read and write saying that it was essential for destruction of poverty, realization of human life. In addition, from 2003 to 2012 "ten years of the United Nations literacy."

10th      : World suicide prevention day
From 10 to 16  : Suicide prevention week
19th      : Respect for the Aged Day
21st      : International Day of Peace (International Day of Peace)
Memorial day of peace that the United Nations set. We pressure all countries and people to work on this day as nonviolent day to stop hostile act in this all day long.

※Child, young people's upbringing support emphasis month

From 12 to 25 : Exercise to get rid of violence for woman
25th     : Violence abolition international day for woman
From November 25 to December 1 : Crime victim week

 3rd     : International person with a disability day
 From 3 to 9  : Person with a disability week
 From 4 to 10 : Human Rights Week
10th     : Human Rights Day (Human Rights Day)
From 10 to 16 : The issue of human rights violations enlightenment week in North Korea
