Topographical record map
Enlarged picture (image: 79KB)

There is bamboo grass lower junior high school when we climb Sakuramichi for a while, and kosaruto (map 6) erected in 1737 (Genbun 2) is enshrined on the right side of way toward the front gate. The Sun-Goddess shrine (map 7) is on the right when we go ahead through way in front of the front to way. We do not become clear in the foundation generation of this Shinto shrine to enshrine ohirumemuchi, but, according to the handing down, it is said that it was Soja of bamboo grass bottom village in reason, the old days before the Tensho era year (the end of 16th century).

It is written in article of the "Chronicles of Japan" Emperor Ankan first year (534 years), "ju keoete shishu of the Imperial Court secured position of kokuzo when kasaharachokushishu and child mallet (we get up) fought over position of buzoyakokuzo". And shishu gave to the Imperial Court four areas as thanks as Korean Imperial Domain governmental office (we see and are jealous). One is ground of kura* (live kyuryoki). There is to "forming anew Musashi" saying "we have dug old tile with the texture from this ground.", and there is theory which district government (government office of gunga, county) of kyuryokigun was placed in in this middle up stand.

At the mid-16th century, according to "forming anew Musashi", we write, "kankyuhozenshu makes castle around here and establishes government office and gathered tax in old days.". As this ground of bamboo grass Shimokawa and hill sandwiched between the Hino River was place of appearance as fort in the Middle Ages, we do this castle with Matsumoto-jo Castle, and there is theory which assumes Uchide of Seki major (map 7) of Matsumoto-jo Castle. In addition, we call the hill whole area of Sakuramichi camp stand (pitching a camp holds), but write in "forming anew Musashi", "this place name remained in old days as we assumed here encampment at time of war". Even if mound was patrol mound of the Middle Ages, camp right here is thought about.
