It is a town newly established from each part of Kaminagaya-cho, Shimonagaya-cho, Nobacho, and Maioka-cho, Totsuka-ku with the enforcement of the house indication in 1980.
The name of the town was named after Fukutokuin Niji Jizoson, which is enshrined at Higanyama 1-chome.
In the past, Kanjiro Iijima, who was engaged in agriculture, usually suffered from a sickness called a tantrum. A traveling monk who happened to pass there was taught that if he worshiped Hiji Jizo-son at Renkeiji Temple in Izu Mishima, the tantrum will be cured. It is said that he was able to escape. Based on this, in order to spread this merit to everyone, from Renkeiji Temple (renkeiji) to Jizo-son (a stone Buddha with a height of two feet and four inches, along with the alter ego served in Yamanashi and Nagano. It is said to be one of them) and served as the principal god of Fukutokuin. This temple was built on Mt. Yoshioka, a deep mountain valley, which was called "Koyasan in Yokohama" at that time. Initially, the temple was a single stand, but on July 1, 1953, it became the last temple of Koyasan Shingon sect Kongobuji Temple. Every month, the day with "four" is said to be the anniversary of death, and it is said that if you pray for a wish on this day, it will always be fulfilled. January 4 of the New Year is the first fair, and many people come from inside and outside Yokohama, and it is particularly busy.
Municipal Subway passes through 1-chome, and Shimonagaya Station is located.
