International exchange

Isogo Ward provides various kinds of support to create a comfortable environment for foreigners.

Since October 2020, we have installed tablets that can be interpreted by videophone at the Public Relations Section on the first floor, Children and Families Support Division Life Support Section on the 5th floor, and Regional Promotion Division on the 6th floor. Available languages are English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, and more than 15 languages.

World Speak, an interactive translation device that enables the translator in text and voice, has been installed at the Family Registry Division and Regional Promotion Division on the 6th floor.
It is a set of two units, enabling two-way translations instantly.
Supported languages are also available in 72 languages, including Chinese and English.

Pokétalk, a portable translation device that supports voice translation and text translation has been introduced at the window of each ward office section.
Voice and text interpreting functions can be used between 61 languages, including Chinese and English, and only text is translating, but it supports 21 languages and communication in a total of 82 languages. In addition, it supports translation of characters by cameras in 55 languages.

Since its establishment in 2007, the International Exchange Corner on the second floor of the ward office has been conducting various consultations, including consultation on living for foreign residents, interpreting and translating affairs, and Japanese speech meetings. However, it was closed on March 31, 2021.
Given the ever-increasing population of foreign countries, Isogo Ward plans to study the development of international exchange lounges in order to enhance international exchange measures with the aim of realizing a more multicultural society.
