[Board of Education Secretariat] Recruitment of Fiscal Year 2025 Appointment Staff (Japanese language teacher) (adopted in April 2025)
We are recruiting Japanese language instructors who provide initial Japanese language instruction to elementary school student students who need to return home or lead to foreign nationals or foreign countries at elementary, middle and compulsory education schools in Yokohama and Japanese intensive classes.

1 General Selection
1 Eligibility
Those who satisfy all of the following (1) to (5)
(1) Those who live in Yokohama city or can commute to the city
(2) One language other than Japanese (but not English) can respond to the level of daily conversation.
※A level check will be conducted at the time of the interview.
(3) A graduate of a technical college or higher and possesses a Japanese language teacher qualification (one of the following a to o)
A. Acquire a predetermined credit by taking a course related to Japanese language education at a university (excluding junior colleges) or graduate school.
Those who have graduated from the university or have completed the course of the graduate school.
Acquire at least 26 credits for subjects related to Japanese language education at universities (excluding junior colleges) or graduate schools.
Those who have graduated from the university or have completed the course of the graduate school.
(C) Those who have passed the Japanese Language Education Proficiency Test conducted by the Japan International Education Support Association
Students who have a bachelor's degree and who are deemed appropriate for training in Japanese language education for at least 420 credits.

E. Others who are deemed to have the same or higher abilities as those listed in a to d
(4) Those who are passionate about education and can respond to elementary school student students.
(5) Those who are expected to have at least one year of experience in teaching Japanese as of March 31, 2025
※Those who fall under the disqualification provisions of Article 16 of the Local Public Service Act cannot apply.
2 Working conditions
◆Working days and hours (*FY2024 results)
Within 5 days a week (Monday to Friday), within 7.5 hours a day
◆Number of working hours per week
① Within 15 hours per week (9 to 15 hours per week)
② Within 19 hours per week (16 to 19 hours per week)
③ More than 20 hours per week
※③Only enrolled in social insurance (employment insurance, Employee Pension Plan (Kosei Nenkin) and employee health insurance). ③In principle, those who can work for 5 days
※Intensive classroom work starts on Tuesday afternoons and Friday afternoons throughout the year.
(Those who cannot work on Tuesday and Friday afternoon cannot apply.)
※The desired working hours may not be reached for the first three months, but the number of working schools and working hours will gradually increase.
◆Work location
Elementary, middle and compulsory education schools in the city where elementary school student students who need Japanese language instruction are enrolled, Japanese intensive classes, etc.
◆Compensation
2,560 yen per hour (paid separately from commuting allowance)
※The amount of remuneration is subject to change due to system revisions. In addition, it may be revised during the appointment period.
◆Identity
Staff appointed for the fiscal year specified in Article 22-2, Paragraph 1 of the Local Public Service Act
3 Employment Period
From early April 2025 to March 31, 2026

6 Selection Method
After screening documents, we will conduct an interview with those who have passed. The date and time of the interview, the venue, etc. will be notified separately to those who have passed the document screening.
(Notice of the results of the screening of documents is scheduled for mid-January 2025, interview is scheduled for late January to early February 2025.)

2 Special Selection
1 Eligibility

Based on the submitted application forms, documents, etc., we will examine application qualifications and select documents.
