FY2019 Yokohama City Foreign Awareness Survey Results

As the foreign population in Yokohama City exceeds 100,000 at the end of April 2019 and is expected to increase further, grasp the living consciousness and needs of foreigners living in the city will be grasped, and the basics of municipal administration and policy planning. We carried out "Yokohama-shi foreign public awareness investigation" for the purpose of utilizing as document.
The survey was conducted by mail, targeting 5,000 foreigners living in the city who were over 20 years old, randomly selected from the Basic Resident Register, and 1,764 responses (recovery rate 35.3%) were obtained. .
According to the survey results, more than 60% of respondents answered that they were satisfied with their current lives, and more than 70% of those who intend to participate in local activities, while 30% answered that they have difficulty in Japanese.
In the future, in addition to enhancing multilingual information provision and consultation services in multiple languages, we will focus on boosting foreigners' activities in the community and supporting Japanese language acquisition, and further promote the acceptance and symbiosis of foreign human resources.
