Comments from designers

The characteristics of the area around the construction site were as follows.

  • It is located on the extension of the approach to Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine.
  • It is located at the eye point of the main flow line from the waterfront.
  • It is located in a place surrounded by Takagi such as Sudajii, Yamamomo, and zelkova.
  • The longitudinal direction of the building faces the garden path.

Based on the characteristics around the construction site, the following concept is based on the characteristics around the construction site.

  • It was supposed to match the image of "Shrine" at Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine.
  • Scale is made with less pressure.
  • With nature as the leading role, the architecture was buried in green.

Based on the above concept, we have derived a method of materialization.

[Structure]

  • The walls are made of reinforced concrete so that it can withstand frequent cleaning by washing.
  • The roof was made of wood and a sloped roof.
  • The shape of the roof was a gable roof, which is the basis of the temple.
  • The eaves are deep and prevent dirt and deterioration of the wall from rain.

[Configuration]

  • A space is provided between the reinforced concrete outer wall and the wooden roof to provide natural ventilation and lighting.
  • Since the gutters are clogged due to fallen leaves, no eaves gutters are provided, and drainage ditches are provided on the ground surface for rain.

After the above process, I proceeded to the implementation design and construction, and when I went to the site for construction supervision, when I heard that parents and children passing by the site said, `` It looks like a shrine '', It was felt that the design intention diagram was well communicated to citizens.

We hope that this facility will become familiar with the area over time and will be used carefully with attachment. Also, I would be happy as a designer to do so.
